The most eastern camping site in Finland
Petkeljärvi is located few kilometers east from Ilomantsi. The nature is so peaceful and beautiful there. Dozens of kilometers of ridges divide lakes and make scenic trails for travelers. The ridges were formed when the ice sheet melted more than 10 000 years ago. Lakes are clear and forests are dominated by pine. The oldest trees are over 200 years old.
Petkeljärvi is a national park with excellent services. There are pitches with electricity for caravans and motor homes. Lodge and cabins are available. Services include showers, saunas, toilets and a camp kitchen.
Trails in Petkeljärvi
There are 10 km of marked trails in the park. Kuikan kierros nature trail is a fairy tale-like route with a length of 6.5 km. Harjupolku trail circles Lake Savulampi and has a length of 3.5 km.
Petkeljärvi is open for camping in summer
The camping site opens 1st of May 2020. The national park is open a year-round.
